LIFE UNDER CANVAS: TENT HOMES IN EARLY NORTH VANCOUVER
Come and explore a full-scale tent home that is just like those that dotted North Vancouver’s landscape in the early days. During the economic boom of 1905-1912, many North Vancouverites lived year-round in tents that were fully equipped with pot-bellied stoves, four-poster beds and other household furnishings. This exhibit examines the realities of ‘life under canvas’ while showing that housing — then, as now — has long been a hot issue in our community.
